Pedro confirms he has held talk with Barcelona over a shock return

Chelsea forward Pedro revealed he has held shock talks over a dramatic return to former club Barcelona after only a single season in the Premier League, reports Daily Mail.

The Spain international, who was used as a substitute in the defending champion’s opening 1-0 victory over Czech Republic at Euro 2016, was signed by Jose Mourinho for £22million last summer but failed to make a significant impact in his debut season.

Despite previously claiming he had no regrets leaving the Nou Camp, the 28- year-old revealed he has spoken to Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu over a potential return to the club where he won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

Speaking to BeIN Sports during Euro 2016, in an interview which has been published by Spanish newspaper Sport, he said: ‘Hopefully (I can return to Barcelona) but I know it’s hard.

‘I have already spoken about it with the president when we (Barcelona) were in the (Cup) final (when Barcelona beat Sevilla 2-0 last month) and spoke to all the people who want me there.

‘It’s complicated, but I’ve always said that I would like to retire at Barcelona. However, I know it’s difficult because the years go by and the club has the best players in the world, it is a very demanding club and to return is complicated. But I do not rule it out either.

‘I had been 11 or 12 years in Barcelona, my family is from there and also many friends. The fans loved me, I felt very valued around the club, and it’s always hard to leave the club of your dreams.

‘But I have explained before in the end I had to take this decision because I saw that the possibilities (of playing) were low.’

Pedro made 30 starts for the deposed champions last year, scoring eight goals during the worst title defence in Premier League history. He has three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.
