Pundit claim Wenger’s tactics outdated so Arsenal cannot compete with big teams

Arsenal will struggle to challenge Europe’s elite with Arsene Wenger behind his rivals, according to Pat Nevin.
The Gunners lost 5-1 to Bundesliga holders Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League last week to leave Arsenal facing another premature exit.
Arsenal have failed to progress past the stage of last 16 since 2010 as Wenger’s wait to win the Champions League for the first time continues.
The north London side are in fourth place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind current leaders Chelsea.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira inspired the Gunners to title glory.
Speaking to Newstalk about Wenger during their 2-0 win against Sutton United in the FA Cup fifth round, former Chelsea winger Nevin delivered his honest verdict on the Arsenal manager.
“They seem to be tactically found out. They don’t seem to have an answer,” Nevin said.
“Arsenal have beaten Chelsea once but the rest of the top teams including Everton, they haven’t. Just when you get to the upper echelons and you need to really think it, Arsene seems just below the top level. That’s great if you’re happy with fourth and Champions League football every year, but getting any more than that, he seems behind now.”
Arsenal signed five players in the summer transfer window as the Gunners looked to close the gap on their title rivals.
