REPORTS: Mourinho agrees personal terms with Man United

Jose Mourinho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United on a £15 million-per-year salary.

The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the top job at the Old Trafford outfit and is seemingly on the verge of being announced as the successor to Louis van Gaal, with the Daily Mail reporting this week that Mourinho has told “close friends” that he will take up the post at the end of the season.

Now, the Daily Mirror claims that Mourinho has already agreed in principle to take over as Van Gaal’s replacement on a three-year deal.

The deal is, the source suggests, worth £15 million annually.

The package means that his salary will be on par with that of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, as the pair are set to renew their managerial rivalry after it was announced that the Catalan would replace Manuel Pellegrini this summer.

Though he is now reportedly set for the Red Devils job, Mourinho endured a difficult start to 2015/16 with Chelsea, winning just 25% of his league matches before being fired in December.

Meanwhile, Van Gaal’s United have been poor this season, with the team knocked out of the Champions League group stage after scoring just seven goals in six games.

Conversely, Mourinho’s Chelsea netted 13 goals in the same period, which was a total only three of Europe’s elite sides could beat.
