REVEALED: Mourinho tabled Pogba bid while at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho tabled a bid for Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba last summer, the France international’s agent has revealed.

The Manchester United boss, then at Chelsea, had been monitoring Pogba for over 12 months and refused to rule out a move for the Juve man when it was put to him last August.

A transfer to Stamford Bridge never materialised for Pogba, but reports continue to link Mourinho with the 23-year-old this summer.

Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte initially placed Pogba on his list of targets ahead of his arrival at Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho appears to have stolen a march on his former employers.

The Blues, however, might already have had Pogba on their books had his agent Mino Raiola got his wish last summer.

“Last year, when the bid came in, I really wanted him to go to Chelsea,” Raiola said.

“It didn’t happen but this year we will see.

“Juve do not want to sell him and there is a chance for us to talk about a new contract. He feels no need to leave.

“But if you come with a project that will make Paul want to leave, we’ll talk with the club.”
