Ronaldo hits yet another goalscoring landmark in Sporting win

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has only been back two games for the new season, but is already setting records and smashing landmarks.

The 31-year-old endured a tough summer after helping Portugal win the European Championships, after the injury he suffered in France saw him return just last week in the win over Osasuna.

Ronaldo’s goal that afternoon was a simple tap-in 5 minutes into his return after good work by Gareth Bale, but there was no simplicity involved when he netted the stunning equaliser against Sporting Club on Wednesday night.

Bruno Cesar’s goal had given the Portuguese giants a second-half lead, but Ronaldo was the hero on 89 minutes when he scored a wonderful 25-yard free- kick.

Ronaldo’s effort was certainly a special one, with his strike against his former club being his 550th career goal on his 350th game for Real Madrid.

It was actually an extremely frustrating night for Ronaldo prior to his free-kick, after missing a sitter from just a few yards out when it was still 1-0 to Sporting.
