Samuel L. Jackson reveals why he supports Liverpool

Hollywood film star Samuel L. Jackson has explained his reasons for supporting Liverpool, revealing that he’d “never been” to a football game before arriving in the city.

Following years of disappointment, the Reds are showing real promise this season under Jurgen Klopp, as he looks to build on their eighth place finish and the two defeats in the League Cup and Europa League finals last term. The club invested heavily in strengthening their squad this summer, and it appears to have had the right effect.

Klopp’s men have been fantastic thus far, suggesting they could be a force for the whole season in the Premier League. One famous fan will certainly hope they can maintain their great start, as Jackson finally explained why he supports the Merseyside club.

“That happened because I shot a film there and I had never been to a proper football game until I got to Liverpool,” the 67-year-old said, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

“That was like my first football experience so that’s why particularly I am a Liverpool fan, that was my introduction to football and I spent a lot of time in the stadium singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.”

The Reds have scored 16 goals and conceded nine in their opening six Premier League fixtures this season, creating 96 chances and with an average pass accuracy of 85%, as they sit fourth on 13 points, one behind Tottenham Hotspur in second and five adrift of rampant leaders Manchester City.

Next up for Klopp’s men is an away clash at Swansea City this weekend, before taking on Manchester United at Anfield following the international break.
