Sanchez demands pay increase to £160,000-a-week

Alexis Sanchez wants a bumper pay increase to £160,000-a-week to stay at Arsenal.

Sanchez has been in blistering form since moving to England from Barcelona for a fee in the region of £35 million back in the summer of 2014, subsequently firing the Gunners to back-to-back FA Cup triumphs – their first taste of silverware since 2005.

He is second only to current teammate Mesut Ozil in the list of Arsenal’s all-time most expensive signings and with the German playmaker believed to be close to agreeing terms on a new and improved deal at the Emirates, Sanchez
wants improved pay himself.

The versatile forward is expected to sit down with the club’s chiefs at the end of the campaign and is eyeing a three-year deal with a wage increase to £160,000-a-week, as reported by The Sun.

But money isn’t the only thing on Sanchez’s mind as the 27-year-old also wants assurances over Arsenal’s future ambitions to make sure they can fill his expectations as one of the best players in European football at this moment in time.

He is happy with life in north London and has enjoyed a fine opening 18 months in England, scoring 35 goals in 75 appearances to date and looking to lead Arsene Wenger’s men to a first Premier League title since 2004 come May
time.

Arsenal have suffered a dip in form since the turn of the year and have won just two of six games in the top flight in 2016 with Sanchez’s name not adorning the scoresheet in a Premier League fixture since all the way back in
October.

He missed much of December and January after picking up a hamstring injury and will be hoping to be back amongst the goals on Sunday when the Gunners welcome league leaders Leicester to town.
