Wenger reveals Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke ready to spend big in bid to rebuild squad

Arsene Wenger says Stan Kroenke is ready to invest “as much money as we want” to rebuild Arsenal, reports the Mirror.

Leicester’s midfield sensation N’golo Kante is among three players targeted by the Arsenal boss this summer to reinforce his runners up.

Majority shareholder Kroenke made a rare visit for Sunday’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa and Wenger said: “Stan Kroenke is completely behind myself and the board investing as much money as we want.

“It has to be in respect of a balanced budget, we have resources but the problem is finding players. Everybody has money in England and they’re all after good players.”

Borussia Moenchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is expected to arrive in a £33.8million deal, while Wenger is also after a striker with Danny Welbeck out for nine months.

Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta have already brought their time in north London to a close, while the Gunners are prepared to listen to offers for Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Others could follow.

Wenger added: “We know what our step is now. Last year we finished third and this year second. So hopefully we can go one better next season.”
