Wenger surprised by Rashford’s intelligent movement

Marcus Rashford’s explosive introduction to the Premier League saw him score two goals in four minutes against
Arsenal and put a massive dent in Arsene Wenger’s side’s title challenge.

The 18-year-old’s rapid success that started with him scoring a brace against Danish champions Midtjylland in the
Europa League had propelled the starlet into the limelight before today’s fixture, and once again he delivered.

Rashford has now scored four goals in his last two games in all competitions and picked up the Man of the Match
award for his fine showing against the Gunners, which saw him also pick up an assist for Ander Herrera’s goal. His
excellent performance also caught the eye of the Arsenal boss, who was impressed with the forward.

“The player who was surprising for me was Rashford,” Wenger said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“The timing of his movement, and the intelligence of his movement was excellent.”

Wenger also admitted that the defeat was a huge blow to his side’s title chances as Arsenal now sit five points
behind Leicester City and three behind arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners’ coach refused to admit that his
side were beaten by a vastly inexperienced side and believed there was a lot of talent on display but it was the 18
-year-old who impressed him the most.

Rashford’s performance topped his debut in Europe and there will undoubtedly be much hype around the youngster’s future from now on.
