Willian: Chelsea can win the Champions League this season

Willian believes Chelsea can repeat their Champions League heroics of 2012 by winning Europe’s elite competition again this year, but says the Blues must be fully focused to first get past Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in a
match he describes as the club’s biggest of the season.

Chelsea host Laurent Blanc’s side in their last-16 second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge this week as the reigning Premier League champions attempt to overcome the French champions and exact revenge on PSG for eliminating the Blues from the tournament on away goals last year.

Chelsea arrive to the match on an 13-match unbeaten streak in the league, although they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke City on Saturday after Betrand Traore’s stunner was cancelled out by Mame Biram
Diouf’s late equaliser.

After enduring a poor start to the season, Willian believes Chelsea can finish the campaign with silverware by winning the Champions League – an achievement that will help the players bid farwell to their coach Guus
Hiddink in style.

“I think we can win it. It will be difficult because there are so many good teams,” the Brazilian said.

“We have to think about Wednesday first and then step by step, we can go to the final. There is always pressure on Chelsea to win titles but we have to concentrate for this game.

“To give Guus one title will be great for us, for him, so we try to give him one trophy to go with. It’s the biggest game of the season.

“We have to show our quality. It will be difficult but we can win.

“We have great quality, they have as well, games like this are 50/50. They can win, we can win but on Wednesday from the beginning we have to show them what we want.

“We are more confident because we play at home. It will be difficult but we can qualify.”
