Liverpool Face Dramatic U-Turn After Player Makes Transfer Preference Clear

Despite Jurgen Klopp’s confirmation that Liverpool have reached an agreement on the fee with Brighton for the midfielder, Moises Caicedo is having “second thoughts” about signing with the Reds and still desires to join Chelsea.

On Thursday night, the Seagulls accepted a deal for the Ecuadorian star from Liverpool that was estimated to be worth around £110 million.

A bid of £100 million was made by Chelsea, who were thought to be the front-runners to recruit the 21-year-old. But Liverpool swooped in to steal the deal.

According to Sky Sports as reported by Mirror Football, the transfer might not go through, though. As Caicedo allegedly has “second thoughts” about going to Liverpool this summer. On Friday morning, the player and his advisors were still in London and had not made the trip up to Merseyside for a medical examination.

Since then, reports have surfaced that Caicedo has reaffirmed his desire to join Chelsea after reaching a personal agreement earlier this summer. However, it is still unknown if the Blues have returned with a better offer.

Speaking on Friday, Klopp declared that Liverpool and Brighton had reached an agreement on the fee for Caicedo.

He said: “The fee with the club is agreed. We will see what that means. We aren’t a club with endless resources and we didn’t expect a couple of things to happen this summer. Then it happened.”
