Antonio Conte ‘Set For Fresh Tottenham Contract Talks This Week’

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to resume talks with Antonio Conte this week over a new long-term contract.

The 53-year-old’s current contract ends at the end of the season, and he has been linked with a return to Juventus once his Tottenham contract expires.

Conte has dismissed the “disrespectful” ties to his old club, who are in shambles after chairman Andrea Agnelli and the entire board resigned amid a probe into alleged fraudulent accounting and Financial Fair Play breaches.

Nonetheless, Conte’s future remains uncertain, although Tottenham are eager to sign a new deal with the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager.

The Lilywhites were expected to begin contract negotiations with Conte over the World Cup break, and The Athletic reports that those discussions will continue today.

According to the report, Conte and Tottenham had begun talks prior to the World Cup, but they were unable to continue as planned last week due to Fabio Paratici’s hectic schedule.

Tottenham are reported to be optimistic about their chances of re-signing the Italian, and they will now negotiate some key details in the hope of reaching an agreement.

Conte and Tottenham are scheduled to meet this week to discuss plans for the January transfer window, as the Italian is eager to upgrade his squad during the winter market.

Conte wants to ensure that Tottenham shares his vision and “ambition” for the next few years before committing his future to the club.

In addition to transfer preparations, Conte is expected to negotiate his contract term and salary during the December negotiations, but it is unknown whether he will be granted a raise.

The Lilywhites will now prepare to face Nice on December 21 before returning to Premier League action against Brentford.
