‘Biggest Problem,’ Says National Media To Pochettino After Bournemouth Draw

Chelsea were unable to return to winning ways this weekend, with their Premier League clash against Bournemouth ending goalless. The Blues had chances on the south coast, with both Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling hitting the post, but Mauricio Pochettino side still lacked a cutting edge in front of goal.

The new Blues manager’s starting XI caused a commotion, with Lesley Ugochukwu starting from the start and Mykhailo Mudryk also getting the nod, with Ben Chilwell dropping to the bench. The England international was easily the most experienced player on the bench, with Alex Matos, Ronnie Stutter, Deivid Washington, and Djordje Petrovic, all of whom have yet to make a senior appearance for the club, joining him.

In the second half, Ian Maatsen and Cole Palmer were both introduced alongside Chilwell to try to affect the game, but none of the three could have an impact. The tie means Chelsea has just won one game this season, and their 2023 record of six wins remains unchanged.

Pochettino certainly has a lot of problems to overcome, with the youthful bench exposing one of them. Moises Caicedo was the latest to join the injury list after returning from international duty with a knock. With that in mind, football.london has compiled a list of how the national media responded to Chelsea’s most recent match, highlighting two key issues.

Chelsea has become accustomed to both the depressed full-time settings and the reason for them. Some Chelsea fans booed at the final whistle at the Vitality Stadium, as the misery of yet another dropped point and a second consecutive failure to score set in on and off the field.
