Brighton Mock Wolves With Tweet After 6-0 Demolition

During Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing, Brighton made fun of Wolves by tweeting, “we haven’t scored for 20 minutes.”

Julen Lopetegui was left with his head in his hands after the game, just as it was thought his club was safe from relegation.

After being eliminated by Manchester United from the FA Cup semifinals, there were concerns that Brighton’s season might fade away, especially after they lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest the following week.

They made five changes for Wolves’ visit, but there was not a hint of disappointment as Roberto De Zerbi’s side resumed their quest for European football.

The first-half saw them score four for the first time in their Premier League history. Then, they added two more goals after the interval with three different players scoring two goals each.

Deniz Undav, Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck all found the net twice.

TalkSPORT commentator Perry Groves couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“Brighton have played this game like an exhibition. Wolves have got nowhere near them. No closing down, stopping crosses,” he said.

“This is an absolute embarrassment for the Wolves players, the manager, the fans.”

Brighton play Manchester United next on Thursday, with a chance to revenge their FA Cup semi-final loss last week.
