Emerson Royal Dismisses Dad’s Claims That He’s Leaving Tottenham For Real Madrid

Tottenham defender Emerson Royal’s father and agent have made the stunning assertion that his son is good enough to play for Real Madrid and will likely seek a transfer this summer.

Emerson’s tenure in north London has been notably uneven since coming from Barcelona in 2021, with the defender frequently failing defensively and providing nothing in the way of an attacking threat.

Axed manager Antonio Conte chose to spend £40 million on Pedro Porro to solve the problem, despite the fact that Emerson was at his best for Spurs soon after the Spaniard was hired.

He originally kept Porro out of the starting lineup and was even called up to the Brazil national team early this year, though his progress was hampered by injury.

Emerson Zulu, the 24-year-old’s father and agent, believes his son has outgrown Tottenham and deserves a move to a European powerhouse such as Champions League holders Real Madrid.

‘There is a good chance Emerson Royal will leave Tottenham,’ the defender’s father said on the Charla podcast.

‘We want this because we believe it’s time for him to take a greater step and join a title-fighting team.

However, while Royal’s father wants to see him shoot for stardom, the defender says he’s more than happy with his current situation at Spurs. Furthermore, he also denied ever speaking to his father about a potential transfer to Real Madrid.

In response to Zulu, Royal said: “Although he is entitled to his own opinion, I have never spoken to him about it and I have always made it clear that I am happy at Tottenham.

“As a professional athlete, I am proud to represent the team that believed in me and gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills.”
