Girona Striker Scores Four Goals Against Poor Real Madrid Side

On Tuesday, Girona striker Taty Castellanos scored an unbelievable four goals as his team smashed Real Madrid 4-2 to move leaders Barcelona closer to the La Liga trophy.

With one more game played, Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid sit 11 points behind Barcelona, literally destroying their chances of retaining the title.

Castellanos was inconsolable when Girona’s match against Barcelona in April ended in a draw as a result of his missed opportunity, but he made up for it spectacularly against Madrid at Montilivi.

Prior to Madrid’s Champions League semifinal match against Manchester City in May, the Argentine striker, on loan from New York City FC, showed weaknesses in Madrid’s defense.

Ancelotti had stated that his team needed to maintain a winning league dynamic to remain at the top of their game in Europe, but in Girona, they seriously lost focus.

“This game does not represent Madrid,” Ancelotti said.

“We apologise, but we must look forward.

“It is difficult but easy to explain. We have not been forceful as in the last games. There has been a lack of commitment. We left too many transitions.

“With the ball, we started well, but without the ball, we left too much space.”

It brought to mind Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski netting four against Madrid for Borussia Dortmund in 2013 in the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Militao, who has been one of the league’s best defenders this season, will hope to move on quickly from a painful evening.
