Erik Ten Hag Lauds His United Team After Dominant Tottenham Win

Erik ten Hag hailed his Manchester United players for producing their “best team performance” of his tenure in their two-goal victory over Tottenham on Wednesday.

Goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes secured a deserved win for a dominant United side on Wednesday night, with the hosts producing a superb display of attacking verve and intensity.

The only blemish in what was otherwise an almost flawless night for the Red Devils was the 88th-minute video showing Cristiano Ronaldo leaving the field and heading into the tunnel.

Despite this, the United players on the field were considerably superior to their Tottenham counterparts, with only opposing goalkeeper Hugo Lloris standing in the way of a much larger victory for United, who made it six wins in their previous eight Premier League games.

What Did Ten Hag Say?

A delighted Ten Hag said after Wednesday night’s match: “I’m pleased with the team, clear. I think it was the best team performance so far this season, so you see today we are developing.

“You see in the last weeks the way we want to play, we want to get better every time on the pitch.

“Of course, it’s not every day, but today against this Spurs, a really magnificent team so far this season, it’s really difficult to play them.

“But I said to the lads in the dressing room it was really enjoyable it was to watch them. It will go up and down (the form).

“I am realistic, it will not only go in this way but we show we can achieve a quite good level and that is based on a certain philosophy.”

The Dutchman added: “It is based on certain rules and principles, so we have to live by these rules and principles and if we do that we can achieve a good level and the best performance.

“For me, good is not good enough, we have to do better but I know also we have to do better but there will be setbacks and you have to deal with it.

“Also, if you don’t play that well you have to win, that’s a base for a successful team, you need a good platform and that is always defensive.”
