FC Barcelona Rekindle Pursuit Of 25-Year Old Moroccan Defender

25-year-old Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui is apparently attracting the attention of La Liga’s top team, Barcelona, claims a report by SPORT.

After dropping in the hierarchy at Bayern Munich, the 25-year-old fullback has been left unsettled. And in the upcoming summer transfer window, he may decide to leave the Bundesliga champions.

Noussair Mazraoui has had a turbulent career to date despite achieving remarkable success on the international stage.

The footballer was a member of the Moroccan team that made history by making it to the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has not, however, had a memorable season at Bayern Munich.

The 25-year-old made a Bosman transfer to the Bundesliga champions last summer, but he has only played in slightly over 1,000 minutes of action.

Additionally, Mazraoui’s importance has decreased since Joao Cancelo joined the team in January, turning him into a minor player. He is frustrated by this circumstance, which has rekindled Barcelona’s interest in him.

Joan Laporta recently revealed that Barcelona would delve into the market for a right-back this summer. And the stance is hardly surprising, considering their struggles to find a long-term successor to Dani Alves.

The situation has become so untenable that Jules Kounde, a centre-back, has played as Barcelona’s first-choice right-back this season.

So it behoves Barcelona to scour the market for a right-back. And several options, including Reece James, have emerged on their radar.

However, Mazraoui is also a candidate worth considering for the Blaugrana.
