Henry Backs Mbappe: “He Has Nothing To Prove To Anyone”

After Kylian Mbappe was seen sulking on-field against Montpellier, Thierry Henry has come out to back the young PSG player.

The defending Ligue 1 champions thrashed Montpellier 5-2 on Saturday at Parc des Princes, with Mbappe among the goal.

However, the World Cup winner had a penalty saved in the first half and seemed to stop sprinting and turn his back on the play in the second after being ignored by Vitinha who passed to Lionel Messi during a good attack.

What Were Henry’s Words On Him?

There is “always a problem” at PSG according to former France striker, Thierry Henry, who offered his backing to Kylian Mbappe.

“Of course, he will need to perform at his highest level, as he has done from the beginning,” Henry stated on Amazon Prime Video, “but he has nothing to prove to anyone,”

“The coach will have to find a way to play the three [Messi, Neymar, Mbappe] and make them happy… goodluck.

“At PSG, there is always a debate, a problem. They won 5-2 and we’re talking about Mbappe. Last year, it was Neymar and it will always be like that, it’s PSG.”

What Next For Mbappe?

Following his absence from PSG’s opening Ligue 1 victory over Clermont Foot due to an adductor injury, Kylian Mbappe was reinstated to the starting lineup against Montpellier.

The 23-year-old is a candidate for the 2022 Ballon d’Or after netting 39 goals in 46 games last season.

He will aim for a better performance in their upcoming away game at Lille on August 21 after being off the mark in PSG’s match against Montpellier.

Christophe Galtier’s team will play Monaco seven days later before beginning their September campaign against Toulouse.
