Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has claimed that Isco is “much more technical” than his Real Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale.
Real manager Zinedine Zidane is facing a selection dilemma ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final against Allegri’s side, with the Frenchman having to decide whether to start Isco or Bale.
“Madrid are a club that has a group of important players beyond the starting XI, such as Asensio and Morata,” Allegri said at a Juventus media day ahead of the Champions League final, reports Spanish outlet AS.
“Casemiro has given the them a lot of balance. If Bale plays, Los Blancos will have more depth, Isco is much more technical.”
Bale has just returned to full fitness following a calf problem but the Welsh winger will be determined to start against
Juventus, especially given that the final is taking place in his home city of Cardiff.
Allegri’s suggestion that Isco is superior to Bale technically can certainly be supported by statistics.
Indeed, Isco has been successful with a higher proportion of his attempted take-ons than Bale in La Liga this season, while he has a higher average pass accuracy and has also created more chances.
Although Juventus are renowned for their resilience at the back Real will be determined to become the first club to retain the Champions League in its current format.
