Liverpool Eye Summer Move For Kalvin Phillips

Liverpool are reportedly hoping to seal a summer transfer move for Manchester City midfielder, Kalvin Phillips in a £35 million deal.

According to the Independent, the 27-year-old midfielder is the target of Jurgen Klopp after he was unable to sign Jude Bellingham due to a higher fee.

In order to improve his midfield options for the upcoming season, Klopp has named Phillips one of his top priorities.

The 27-year-old Phillips is reportedly open to a move to Anfield. And Liverpool is said to have made Phillips aware that he is on their radar.

Phillips enjoyed the opportunity to play under Pep Guardiola after moving to City in a £50 million transfer from Leeds last summer.

But his move to the Etihad has become a constant misery.

He had surgery on his shoulder in September. Which rendered him inactive until the World Cup in Qatar got underway.

Phillips was also restricted when he returned to the Etihad after a trip to New York with friends. Despite playing for England in the competition.

When Phillips used all of his allotted nine days off before returning to Manchester without the necessary levels of fitness, Guardiola was less than impressed.

Before Christmas, Guardiola publicly criticized Phillips for allegedly returning from the World Cup overweight. And therefore, barred him from training for being out of shape.

This situation will be a positive for Liverpool, who have been touted for a move. With at least three midfielders expected to leave Anfield, the Reds will target different midfielders to fill the roles of the departed ones.

Mason Mount, Alexis Mac Allister, Matheus Nunes, Ryan Gravenberch and Joao Palhinha have all been mentioned as players that will potentially join Liverpool before the beginning of next season.
