Liverpool Told To Pursue Arsenal ‘Target’ As Potential Jude Bellingham Alternative

Michael Owen has encouraged Liverpool to sign Arsenal transfer target Declan Rice during the summer transfer window if they are unable to secure Jude Bellingham according to The Times.

The former Liverpool striker believes the Reds should do ‘all they can’ to sign Jude Bellingham, but accepts if it isn’t a realistic option given their current situation.

As a result, he threw the name of Declan Rice in the ring, with the West Ham United captain expected to leave the London Stadium in the summer.

Rice is the most defensive-minded of the two and would play the six role for Jurgen Klopp if he moved to Anfield.

Whereas Bellingham could be the box-to-box number eight that fans crave, Real Madrid could be his next stop.

Nonetheless, as he told Premier League Productions (01/05/23 at 11:20 pm), Owen is very clear about what he wants Liverpool to do during the summer transfer window.

“Do everything you can to get Jude Bellingham,” said Owen. “Everything you can. It might not be (realistic). But whatever you do, go and get the best.“Go and get the next best (if Bellingham signs for Real Madrid). Go and get Declan Rice.”

There is a strong possibility that Bellingham won’t be the only player Liverpool miss out on because of their financial situation and no Champions League football for next season.

Rice could also end up joining another club, with the England international keen on joining Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, with Pep Guardiola describing the midfielder as ‘exceptional’.

The Gunners might miss out on the Premier League title, but they will make a return to the Champions League next season, as they will be joined by Manchester City, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
