Lucas Moura ‘To Leave Tottenham At The End Of The Season’

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Lucas Moura will reportedly leave the North London club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison have pushed the Brazilian international, who was already second fiddle to Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, even farther down the attacking pecking order.

Bryan Gil has also made strides in recent weeks, while Lucas has been unable to make an impact in the 2022-23 season due to injury.

The 30-year-old joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 and signed a one-year extension, but those terms are set to expire at the end of the season.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham had the option to extend Lucas’ contract until 2024, but they only had until December 31 to do so, and they chose not to do so.

As a result, Lucas will leave Tottenham when his contract expires in the summer, and he is now free to begin pre-contract discussions with foreign clubs.

It’s unclear what Lucas’s options will be for the 2023-24 season and beyond, but he was reportedly on Aston Villa’s radar during the summer transfer window.

Spurs were hesitant to sanction a sale, but Lucas has only played 11 games for Tottenham this season due to injury, having struggled a particularly troublesome tendon problem.

The ex-Sao Paulo man has failed to score or assist this season and has only played 90 minutes in eight Premier League appearances, all of which have come off the bench.

Tottenham paid £25.1m to sign Lucas from PSG in 2018, and he has 38 goals and 27 assists in 213 appearances across all competitions.
