Man United To Pay Majority Of Greenwood’s Wages Throughout Stint At Getafe

Manchester United will reportedly pay the majority of Mason Greenwood’s wages as he completed a season-long loan move to Spanish club, Getafe.

Greenwood, 21, has signed with the La Liga outfit. This is after United have decided that the forward’s career should be continued outside of Old Trafford as the wisest course of action for all parties.

He was the focus of an internal club inquiry after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges against him for attempted rape, violence, and controlling behavior in February.

A statement from Manchester United confirming Greenwood’s move to the Spanish club read: “Mason Greenwood has signed for La Liga side Getafe CF on a season-long loan.

“The move enables Greenwood to begin to rebuild his career away from Manchester United. The club will continue to offer its support to Mason and his family during this period of transition.”

The transfer occurs just hours after his attempted transfer to Serie A side Lazio fell through. Turkish Super Lig club, Besiktas are also said to be interested in the English forward.

Since then, it has been revealed that United will cover most of Greenwood’s pay at Getafe. The Telegraph via James Ducker tweeted that Getafe will “make a small contribution” towards the player’s £75,000 weekly wage.
