Manchester United Make Progress In Efforts To Persuade Ronaldo To Stay

Manchester United is making progress in resolving the situation with Cristiano Ronaldo. The club wants the 37-year-old striker to continue for another season, and Richard Arnold is seeking to persuade the player’s camp.

When asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future on Monday, Erik ten Hag kept his options open but emphasised that the forward was unsellable because he is an important part of his plans for the upcoming season.

According to The Times, Manchester United’s chief executive Richard Arnold has impressed Ronaldo’s team by handling the Portugal international’s wish to leave Old Trafford for the second time in his career.

Duncan Castles, a close acquaintance of Jorge Mendes, reports: “On the one hand, Arnold has been sympathetic to Ronaldo’s discontent, granting his representatives permission to explore options at Chelsea and Bayern Munich and suitors in Italy and Spain. On the other, he has underlined Ronaldo’s importance to United and Ten Hag, while accelerating the club’s efforts to restructure a squad that finished sixth in last season’s Premier League despite the 37-year-old scoring 18 goals: a return only surpassed by Mohammed Salah and Son Heung-min.”

Arnold, who took over as United’s board chairman this year after Ed Woodward stepped down, has a lot of work to do to establish himself in the football industry. His predecessor is a running gag in football circles, but not among the Glazers, who undoubtedly wish he was still working at Old Trafford.

Although Ronaldo’s commitment to Manchester United for the upcoming season is still a mystery to us, this might indicate that he won’t be leaving this summer.

Ronaldo doesn’t appear to have any proposals pending that would reinstate him in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign. However, United had no intention of making an attempt to sign a replacement for Ronaldo in the current transfer market. It is now believed that they may manage without it this summer, which gives Ten Hag a year to choose his ideal goal scorer.
