United recently dropped their interest in Marko Arnautovic of Bologna after missing out on striker Benjamin Sesko, who joined RB Leipzig.

Erik ten Hag and Gakpo are represented by the same agency, and ten Hag is eager to add the 23-year-old to his squad.
How Has The Transfer Window Treated Man United?
Despite already adding midfielder Christian Eriksen and defenders Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia to his squad this summer, the Dutchman has not yet been able to bolster his front line.
With Anthony Martial now out injured and questions over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future, Manchester United are searching for additional solutions up front.
They failed to sign striker Benjamin Sesko, who will sign with RB Leipzig in the summer, while they just dropped their interest in Marko Arnautovic of Bologna.
Antony has been United’s top forward target for much of the transfer window, but it has long been known that Ajax intends to keep him and would need just about £70 million to change their stance.
Gakpo, currently managed by former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, has emerged as a better long-term alternative to the Erik Ten Hag’s shortage of options.

PSV’s position has been that it is unlikely for them to keep their key players if a club with significant financial resources enters the picture.
