Marco Silva Emerges As Suprise Candidate For Chelsea Job

Fulham boss Marco Silva has reportedly emerged as a surprise candidate to succeed Graham Potter at Chelsea.

Potter was dismissed by the Blues on Sunday evening, after only seven months and 31 games in charge.

Disgruntled fans had been clamoring for Potter to be sacked for some time, but co-owner Todd Boehly stuck by him through a hard stretch.

Chelsea entered the international break on the back of a four-game undefeated streak in all competitions, but they lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.

With the Blues now 11th in the Premier League table, the club chose to sack Potter, apparently leaving the players stunned.

Ex-Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as an early favourite to take over on a permanent basis.

The 35-year-old may decide on his future in the summer, as Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in him.

If their pursuit of Nagelsmann fails, The Mirror believes that Fulham head coach Silva is also on the shortlist of potential successors to Potter due to his eye-catching performances with the Cottagers.

The former Everton, Watford, and Hull City manager took over at Craven Cottage in the summer of 2021 and promptly led the London club back into the Premier League with the Championship title in tow.

The 48-year-ol’d’s accomplishments at Craven Cottage have allegedly gained him admirers within Stamford Bridge’s walls, but he is under contract with Fulham until the end of next season.

Silva has a record of 43 wins, 16 draws, and 25 loses in 84 games as manager of the Cottagers, however Fulham’s last four games in all competitions have ended in defeat.
