PSG Goalie Sergio Rico Remains In ‘Serious’ Condition, Conditions Improving

Although PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico remains in critical condition, the Sevilla hospital where he is being treated has noted his health is improving.

Following a horse riding accident while taking part in an annual pilgrimage in the Huelva area of Spain’s El Rocio, Rico was taken into intensive care.

The hospital said: “The medical team has completely stopped Sergio Rico’s sedation and for the moment he is evolving favourably.”

However, the statement adds “his condition remains serious and he continues to be placed in intensive care.”

Earlier this week, his wife told the local press: “Step by step. Little by little. We have a lot of confidence in the professionals at the Virgen del Rocio.”

PSG issued a statement after the accident: “Paris Saint-Germain learned of the accident involving its player Sergio Rico on Sunday and remains in constant contact with his loved ones. The entire Red and Blue community offers them its full support.”

Meanwhile, Rico’s wife had also relayed a heartbreaking message on social media days after the accident: “Don’t leave me alone, my love, because I swear I cannot.

“I don’t know how to live without you. We love you a lot.”

There has been an outpouring of support from the Parisian giants too, and over the weekend PSG fans chanted his name during their clash with Clermont Foot 63.
