Real Madrid Plot Audacious Summer Move For Erling Haaland

Real Madrid are exploring an audacious summer move to sign Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland as part of a strategy to bring in a new generation of young stars that also includes Jude Bellingham, according to the Independent.

After several discussions with the Bellingham’s team, the Champions League holders feel they are the favorites to sign the England and Borussia Dortmund midfielder.

Haaland, meanwhile, is also being considered as a Karim Benzema replacement, who is now 35 years old.

Kylian Mbappe was once at the top of Real Madrid’s transfer wishlist, but his decision to stay at Paris Saint-Germain last summer generated animosity between the player and the club, and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is looking elsewhere ahead of a summer of transformation at the Bernabeu.

The Independent reports: “The Champions League holders believe they are favourites to sign the England and Borussia Dortmund midfielder after a series of meetings with his team.

“They are also looking at Haaland as a replacement for 35-year-old Karim Benzema. Perez at one point wanted to bring in both Mbappe and Haaland but the Madrid president is now said to be intrigued by the idea of testing Manchester City’s resolve as regards their Norwegian forward.
“Perez was expected to delay any such move until summer 2024, but Madrid are at least willing to test the situation.”
